The Empire Dragon Boat Team is a New York City–based breast cancer survivor team built on strength, resilience, and community and now includes all cancer survivors. We are a group of survivors who come together on the water to paddle, heal, and thrive — proving that life after breast cancer can be powerful and full of momentum. Through teamwork and determination, we support one another physically and emotionally while raising awareness and inspiring hope. Every stroke we take is a celebration of survivorship, courage, and the unstoppable spirit of our crew.

The Empire Dragons NYC, are New York City’s first and only breast cancer survivor Dragon Boat team focused on building the most successful survivorship paddling program in the tri-state area. While we are primarily a breast cancer team competing in races sanctioned by the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission (IBCPC), we welcome all cancer survivors to paddle in non BCS races during our season.

The teams' mission is to promote the sport of Dragon Boating as a unique and healthful survivorship program; to be advocates for clean waterways and the overall environment; and to be supporters of innovative cancer research and programming.

The team happens to be one of over 150 breast cancer survivor teams worldwide that serve to promote dragon boating as part of a healthy lifestyle, and provide a unique support for those fighting cancer.
